Nesta conversa vamos avançar pelo espaço entre as coisas, pelos interstícios carregados de vida, prestando atenção ao que não se vê. Iremos concentrar a nossa atenção nos processos em vez de nos objectos, questionar os marcadores que distinguem as coisas umas das outras. Considerar pontos de observação que permitam encontrar continuidade entre os seres, entre o mundo humano e não-humano, com o propósito de desmontar a excepcionalidade humana que herdamos e perpetuamos. Um vislumbre das estratégias da artista através de uma narrativa por algumas das suas obras e por conceitos chave a elas associados.

Julia Oschatz’s work combines drawing, video, painting, sculpture, stage design, performance, sound and text to create complex installations. These stage-like situations for short video loops and drawing series address the ambivalence between the dependence of the individual on the body and the environment, as well as the supposed freedom of decision and action. 
A central aspect of her work are machines and masks for the video performances made out of cardboard, which in the automatism of constant repetition hinder habits and processes and humorously question the skills of human beings.

In this talk, Omar will approach his experience as a Caribbean and Mexican artist, and share about his interdisciplinary practice, as showcased through his project titled Ghost Variations. This project stems from the visual arts, but is also inspired by other disciplines, such as poetry, sound and landscaping.
His approach is ingrained in his Caribbean upbringing, the antique world, and its points of contact with the European Romantic tradition, mainly through the exploration of the storm and its transforming effect.
